Visits to the Kotabaru is very interesting, there's a lot of tourism objects that very good to see and take a shoot from your camera. I start my journey from 26 to 29 November 2008. The city is located in a small island among other islands in the south Kalimantan.
Kotabaru is a district of the capital also called Kotabaru. There is a lot of attraction a to be visited such as Tamiyang Bay Sea Park, beaches in the village of Lontar Kerayaan Island, Gendambaan Beach, Mount Bamega, Cape Ketapang, Sarang Tiung fishing village, city Kotabaru it selves and many more.
From Batulicin ferry from the port, I must cross to Tanjung Serdang ferry first about 20 minutes. From this ferry we will be found several small islands and mountainous areas above sea level.
After the Cape Serdang, I must again follow the road. Shortly after arriving in Kotabaru, I go to a restaurant in the city center directly overlooking the ocean. After eating, I start walk around the city. A lot of uniqueness can be seen in this city. Like hilltop Padgoda. Islamic Center with its unique dome, cafe-café in front of the sea, the regent who is also his view to the sea, etc.
Pedestrian area in this city is very good. From many city I already visited in south Kalimantan Area, this city has the best pedestrian area among others. This city is very friendly for pedestrian kaki. Some large pedestrian area are given sufficient motive beautiful stone from the stacks sea.
Many people said that it would be incomplete if you come to this city without visiting Siring Laut. A wide public place similar with “alun-alun” with ocean view. At the afternoon, this place is very crowded with citizens and tourists.
Siring Kotabaru
Kotabaru Seaport is not too far from Siring Kotabaru. At this port, you can find many speed boats, which can be rented to drop you to Batulcin. The fee is only 50 thousand rupiah. Or if you like to dive Tamiyang Sea Park is a good choice to do your hobby. You can also find some speed boat to rent in this place.
At this Sea port, there is also floating restaurants over the sea water. The scenery from this restaurant is very beautiful. Buildings are nicely combined with the spread of Mount Bamega behind it.
Kotabaru from the sea
Satisfied watching this city from the sea, I return to the mainland. This time I visit a crowded paintend building. The name is Limbur Raya, The biggest shopping complex in this city.

Adzan Maghrib call me to immediately go to Masjid Kotabaru Raya this is the right option this mosque is big enough. Not far from Limbur Raya. The mosques Interior are dominated by wooden buildings typical of Kalimantan. I was very grateful for the opportunity by God to pray in the largest Mosque at this city.
Masjid Raya Kotabaru
Right across the mosque I see a big building. That building is Grand Surya Hotel. The most luxurious hotel in Kotabaru. There is ballroom, with various types of rooms, cafe, etc... In addition to the Grand Hotel Surya this, there are other large hotels Hotel Kartika ( at Veterans Road), Wisma Saijaan (facing the sea) and there are many other hotels.
Route Info to Kotabaru
You can ride public transportation bus or small bus non AC. If it using AC it will be charge for Rp. 130.000 for Non-AC Rp. 80.000. It departures at 7 & 9 am in of terminal Pal 6 Banjarmasin. The journey will take around 9 hours From Kotabaru also much transportation back to Banjarmasin.
If you departure at 7 pm. It easily found the bus around Mesjid Raya Kotabaru. Fare is same. For those who only have their weekend, its enogh for you to go to this city for short holiday. Start at Saturday morning, in the afternoon you could enjoy Saturday night at this city and enjoy a full day city tour and its beaches at Sunday afternoon and back to Banjarmasin.
