North Sumatra, keep multiple tourism potency, it’s too beautiful to be missed. As alternative destination of your vacation, all believed this region are able compete with Bali, considering that this area are nearby Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. As the center government of North Sumatra area, Medan grows to become one of metropolitan city in Indonesia with approximately 2,5 million resident, most of them are from Batak and Melayu tribe. Java, Aceh and member of descendant of Chinese and India are filling the gap of Medan resident. Now Medan become is the third biggest town in Indonesia after Jakarta and Surabaya. In Medan there is a lot ancient building of Europe from the Dutch colonial. This area is widely known as Kesawan Area. At the north of Kesawan there is Merdeka Square. Around this place there are some ancient buildings like Gedung Balai Kota, Indonesia Bank, PT. London Sumatra, Hotel Dharma Deli and a drawbridge (titi hangs), below this drawbridge there is Railway Station of Medan. Also there is historic antique building that is The Post Office Medan that still operated until now. If you have a chance to enjoy the night life of Medan, in area Kesawan there is place of the biggest night food hawkers in Medan, you can enjoy all food types which has ready to be served by the hawkers. At this area also (Jl. Ahmad Yani) you this can find various types souvenir from North Sumatra.

Tourism Object in Medan is Maimun Palace which is result of omission from colonization era of Dutch. This palace is very beautiful; the architecture art is hardly distinguishing a European ancient building of palace. This palace is located at Jl. Brigjend Katamso, Medan. There is also Mesjid Raya Medan which have the luxury and high artistic art, makes this mosque looks very classy. This Mesjid Raya can be found at Jl. SM. Raja, Medan.

Tanah Karo may become one of your destinations; the distance is around 78 km from Medan. One of place you can visit in Tanah Karo is Brastagi, located at around 4594 foot from the sea level and encircled mountain line, Brastagi has cold air with large beautiful agriculture farm, wide and green. Brastagi is a tourism area with complete facility. Brastagi also recognized by its Markisa fruit and Sweet Orange. From Brastagi you can enjoy beautiful view of Gunung Sibayak and Gunung Sinabung, both of them are active volcanoes.

With 3 to 4 hours journey to Gunung Sibayak forest, you can see beautiful natural resources both flora and fauna. Berastagi is also famous as producer of various vegetable types, fruit and flower. In this town often is carried out some tourism event, like Pesta Bunga Buah and Festival Kebudayaan Pesta Mejuah-juah performed every year. Tanah Karo also has yearly tradition called Kerja Tahun performed by people of Karo who still live in this area and or who have gone abroad.

There is many alternatives ways to reach Tanah Karo from Medan, that is : Sembahe is one of roadway between Medan to Brastagi around 35 km. From Medan it can be reached for 45 minutes with motor vehicle from Medan, 15 minutes journey from Sembahe, you arrive at Sibolangit (approximately 40 km from Medan). Within the journey you can see amenity forest which located in mountain bevel of Bukit Barisan, this area is really cold. Along this road, you may also find some point wich you can buy durian, the fruit of God while take a break on your journey.

Bandar Baru is a small town approximately 47 km from Medan to Brastagi, it has convenient cool air which suited for family vacation at the weekend. Penatapen is place of street Medan-Brastagi which closes to the border of Tanah Karo with Deli Serdang. People often take a rest at this place while enjoying warm corn and grilled corn. From here we can watch Bandar Baru and Medan, also watch Sikulikap waterfall and climb line to Gunung Sibayak.

Crossing Lake Toba, you will stop by at Pulau Samosir, a small island located in the middle of the lake. This small island, Samosir has huge tourism potency base on nature tourism. In this area you may found spiritual tourism object, agriculture and water tourism. 

Tuk-Tuk Siadong area, represents natural beauty landscape which visited by local tourist and international tourist. This area provides good facilities of accommodation. Tomok, is funeral location of Raja Sidabutar. This funeral age is hundred of years. Siallagan is countrified location of Batak with conference stone (for justice) and place of execution at the middle of kampong. Simanindo is countrified location of Batak with museum is containing omission of historic and ancient goods.

At Samosir Island there is also Hot Spring water called Aek Hangat. It located in the crater Pusuk Buhit Mountain. The water came out is hot brimstone water. It is believed can heal various skin diseases. Tano Ponggol is an area connecting Samosir Island and Sumatera Island. Coast Lagundi is alongside east coast Pulau Samosir. This white sandy coast is suitable for camping ground and youth tourism. A tower seems to boost compared to other building in this area. Menara Pandang Tele located in mountain area on the other side of Samosir Island. From this tower you can see the form of Samosir Island as a whole. An area called Batu Guru is believed to become the slogan of Batak people that is "Dalihan Natolu". So, you have many choices to determine destination traveling hereinafter, isn't it?

Saya lahir di medan tapi karena ayah orang Malaysia, udah jadi warganegara Malaysia.Agak menyedihkan karena ramai orang Malaysia berpendapat Medan is not a tourist friendly.
